These insulated aluminum covers help protect against freezing. The 3-mil thick polysurlyn moisture barrier is laminated to the inside surface to help prevent corrosion of the jacketing and the underlying equipment, metal pipe, or vessel.
Thickness Information:
– 016″ (0.4mm): Considered the standard for industrial use and recommended on pipelines up to 24″ O.D., which includes the insulation. Primarily used to protect piping, vessels, and tanks that are less than 8 feet in diameter.
– 020″ (0.5mm): Applicable for insulation lines up to 36″ O.D., including insulation. Primary use to protect towers, vessels, and tanks with a diameter greater than 8 feet.
– 024″ (0.6mm): Heavier gauge roll jacketing where extra strength and protection is required.
– 032″ (0.8mm): For areas where extra protection is required, or in custom fabrication of Box covers, tank heads, or heavy wear areas.

*Blue Polysurlyn Barrier:
The blue polysurlyn barrier is made of Dupont’s Surlyn, co-extrusion polyethylene, blue film and covered with sun protection film. The total thickness is only 0.076mm. It is easy to heat laminate on aluminum, stainless steel and other metal surfaces. The barrier has high tearing strength, it is durable and has excellent weatherability.
This barrier prevents moisture and corrosion inside jacketing from direct contact with insulation causing galvanic or chemical corrosion, thus extending the usage expectancy of metal jacketing.
Metal jacketing with polysurlyn is suitable for most general-purpose industrial conditions existing in refineries, power plants, and chemical plants, and is used for the protection of pipes and tanks, as well as vessels.
